Our Story

Background

JuJu is manufactured by Freedom Products, an environmentally conscious, privately owned Australian company which was founded in 2009 by Brenda and Katryna.

JuJu was approved for sale by the Therapeutic Goods Administration of Australia (TGA) in February 2011.

Mission

Our core mission is to encourage women to embrace their monthly menstruation as a sign of fertility and health and provide them with a healthier, greener and more cost effective alternative to disposable pads and tampons.

We are dedicated to providing women with feminine hygiene alternatives that don’t come at a cost to the environment.

Name

The word juju travels back to West African rituals which ascribe magical powers to a small object worn like a charm. In this tradition, good juju is believed to cure ailments of mind an body and can be the result of a good deed or selfless act.

We believe the name JuJu is appropriate for our menstrual cup because it is a small object worn by women. Without a doubt the single most notable ‘good deed’ that comes from using a JuJu, in place of traditional disposable sanitary products such as pads and tampons, is in the benefit to the environment.
