Thanks to the efforts of Barbara Rogstad, the National Coordinator for Packages for Homeless, we have donated cups for distribution in Melbourne and Sydney in 2014!
Can you imagine being out on the streets at night, with no home to return to?
1 in 200 Australians will experience homelessness on any given night in 2014. Half of them are women. 1/6 th of the 25% making up the homeless youth population are girls between the ages of 12 and 25.
Packages for Homeless is a group project currently assembling 300 care packs to distribute to individuals experiencing homelessness in Melbourne and Sydney this year. JuJu is proud to be included in their list of supporters.
June 21st is the longest night of the year in the Southern Hemisphere. During this cold, dark week, volunteers from Packages for Homeless will hand out goods that have been packed into sturdy backpacks. The packs contain food products and gift cards to food outlets, hygiene products (including JuJu Menstrual Cup), as well as some clothing items like blankets, rain ponchos, and handmade scarves.
For women and young girls who are living on the streets, managing their menstrual cycles can be quite difficult. Without enough money to buy food, they certainly can’t afford menstrual hygiene products. Not having regular access to toilets, sinks, and laundry facilities only make the situation worse. JuJu is a convenient, reusable option. We hope to make a difference in the lives of these women and young girls.
